Having been a TEDMED Great Challenges Leader, I get asked a lot about devices for tracking healthy lifestyle habits. Here’s a round up by Datafloq that reviews lifestyle tracking devices and where the future might be heading.
I’m not swoon by an exclusive data-driven society in the same way that we yell at each other to stop staring at our phones and wake up to the whole creative perspective of the human experience, but do see some of the potential benefits of the data collecting wave, especially for medical innovations. But my sci-fi side says that we might as well give the Borg our coordinates and get it all over with. Is the future our body as USB ports, where we won’t find employment without being plugged into the Matrix, where the human experience is narrated by a pixel mosaic painted by data-points ?
